Taku Takahashi
started his career as producer / DJ of “m-flo†who is frequenter of Japanese national music chart.
They have released 10 albums and 30 singles for 10 years sold more than 100 million copies!
They have packed every single live show and performed in front of 10,000people.
Yeah…You can easily imagine, “m-flo†is tip top pop icon in the Japanese music industry. Though, on the other hand, they have been pushing Japanese music scene by hybriding real dance music into their productions.
In their very first singles, July 7th 1999 they blended US Hiphop/R&B or UK Drum’n Bass/Garage and House elements (Many of the listeners were not even aware or though...) They also have collaborated with a number of both national and international artists like as Ryuichi Sakamoto, Bahamadia just to name a few. Also, in 2005, they were charted in the U.S. Billboard magazine Hot Dance / Club Play chart which spread their name abroad. Also, in their remix album, they featured artists like as Diplo, London Elektricity, Danny Byrd, Zed Bias, Todd Edwards, The Mighty Bop, Space Cowboy…also domestic artists like as Shinichi Osawa, Towa Tei, Fantastic Plastic Machine, Yasuharu Konishi (Pizzicato Five), Takkyu Ishino, Jazztronik and just to name a few.
In 2009, he is in member of ravex which is a Japanese electronic music group, consisting of worldwide well known producer/DJ Shinichi Osawa, Tomoyuki Tanaka. Established to mark the 20th anniversary of the Avex label. Apart from the work as a member of "m-flo", Taku Takahashi sololy has produced tracks for Japanese major artists and remixes for a number of both national and international artists like "Calvin Harris - I'm Not Alone", "Lady Sovereign - Jigsaw", "The Ting Tings - That's Not My Name" which is official release in Japan and worldwide soon.
As a DJ, he has been playing all over Japan including world famous venue like ageHa or AIR with artists like Basement Jaxx, Sinden, Adam Beyer, Zed Bias, Benjamin Diamond, Sunny J and rocked the crowd. His play style is eclectic which blended Electro House/Fidget House/Drum’n’Bass/Dubstep/Ghetto Music/Hip Hop.
In 2009 he has chosen Japanese best DJ top 50 of LOUD magazine which is one of the most known domestic dance music magazine. He has hosted regular nights "Tachytelic" at AIR, Tokyo and WORLD, Kyoto for the last 7 years. Both parties always bring more than 700 people and famed to be one of the most hottest club events in Japan. He has invited worldwidely known artists like as Adam Beyer, Benjamin Diamond, Zed Bias and will invite Calvin Harris, Congorock (Fool's Gold), Lady Sovereign in 2009. He recently started dance music web radio called "TCY Radio Tokyo" which introduces hot national artists to Japan. Finally, Taku decided to launch his own label "TCY Records" in 2009 to express his love to dance music.
